Gonzaga freshman forward Anton Watson will miss the rest of the season with a left shoulder injury, the school announced shortly before the start of Thursday night's game against Santa Clara.
Watson will undergo surgery. The school didn't divulge when that will occur.
"Anton is one of the toughest guys I've coached," Bulldogs coach Mark Few said in the news release. "He's battled through a lot because he cares about this team. This is the right thing to do moving forward for his career, and he has a bright future with our program."
Watson averaged 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15 games (five starts) for the top-ranked Bulldogs.
